In-Person & Virtual Tours Are Back!
In-person tours will be starting in October, they will be run Tuesday-Thursday and are best suited for grades 3+. City of Saskatoon schools will receive free bussing to and from our facility. Tours are approx. 2 hours in length and require a teacher and a minimum of 3 parent/adult chaperones to attend (TEACHER +2 ADULTS). If you don’t have access to 2 chaperones please contact us ahead of time. Your bus will be booked & paid for by Loraas if your school is within the City of Saskatoon Limits. We can accommodate classrooms up to approx. 30 students, if you have more than 35 students please email us or book multiple tour dates. Please note there is also a waiver that MUST be signed before minors can enter the building.
We are also keeping our virtual option via Zoom for any classrooms that may be better suited for it, ie. outside of Saskatoon or those who require wheelchair accessibility.
Our online booking tool will be available in early September, or you can beat the rush and book via email at communications@loraas.ca.
*You must have 2 or more parent/adult chaperones attend

We offer free public education for all age groups, if your classroom or business is learning about or adding a new recycling or waste reduction program we’d love to help.

VIRTUAL PRE-SORT STATION
Try out your recycling sorting skills!
HOW TO PLAY:
Sort the following accepted and non-accepted materials from the recycling stream and place them into their assigned bins:
Accepted: Blue bagged shredded paper into the ‘blue-coloured’ bin.
Accepted: Blue, green and clear household glass bottles into the ‘black-coloured’ bin.
Not-Accepted: Remove plastic stretch film and bags by throwing them up into the silver vacuum tube.
Not-Accepted: Garbage items are placed into the ‘red-coloured’ not recyclable bin. Items include: ropes, dirty diapers, broken toys and rusty pots & pans.
Not Accepted: Waste dangerous goods are harmful to you, the sorting staff, and have the potential to damage the machinery. Press the ‘red-coloured’ emergency “STOP” button to remove: red gas cans, mini propane tanks, knives, axes, chainsaws, and tires.
To gain points, use your mouse to drag the items into their appropriate bins/areas before they move to the next station.
Remember: Allow the real recyclables, paper, cardboard, household tin & aluminum, and plastics with a #1♻-#7♻ to pass through your station as they will be sorted by machines and your coworkers further down the line.
If items are missed or incorrectly separated, you will lose points.
BE QUICK, HAVE FUN, AND ALWAYS, “KEEP CALM AND RECYCLE ON!”
*Note: This game should be played on a desktop computer or touch screen tablet. Not available for phones or in the app store.
